Kemper System membranes offer the ideal solution for the recovery of existing roofs where removal of and the logistics associated with the existing assembly presents costly challenges. They adhere to virtually any substrate and compensate for movements in the structure caused by thermal expansion/contraction of different materials. Residual moisture in the structure can dry out, due to the membrane's vapour diffusion properties. Application of Kemper System membrane from edge-to-edge brings a peace-of-mind solution and long term protection of the building.
Benefits
• | Can be installed over the existing roof assembly |
• | Monolithic, seamless membrane that fully adheres to the surface |
• | Adds minimal weight to the structure |
• | Self-terminating, eleminates need for pitch pockets, term bars, fasteners and adhesives |
• | Adaptability; phasing of the application is easy |
Challenge
To provide a 40,000-square-foot roofing system that could be applied without removing existing roof assembly.
Solution
After preparation and installation of Kemperol membrane at perimeter, base flashing provided a monolithic edge-to-edge application over existing asphalt roof. Application eliminated exposure to weather conditions in the critical lab area below the structural deck.
Challenge
Recover two existing layers of asphaltic built-up roofing installed over a steel deck. Difficult access made removal and replacement prohibitively expensive, and would have disrupted operation of this prestigious upscale hotel during prime season. Existing roofing had some areas of moist insulation. Owners wanted a cost-effective solution that would not effect hotel operation.
Solution
Install Kemperol roofing system and Kemperdur colored aggregate surfacing. Compact packaging of Kemper System materials made access to working areas straightforward. Disruption of hotel operation was avoided due to the clean and quiet characteristics of Kemperol system installation. Application proceeded quickly, saving weeks compared to traditional roofing practices, and the Owners were provided with the cost-effective solution they desired.
Challenge
Existing roof had moisture in Perlite insulation board assemblies in valuable warehouse structure. Needed to add waterproofing membrane without removing existing roof system, as conduits over the surfaces made removal next to impossible.
Solution
Due to its permeability Kemperol V210 membrane was installed, eliminating the demolition phase of the project and thereby reducing costs. In addition, phasing of the project became practical. The application, the oldest Kemper installation in the United States, has performed without failure since 1982.
Challenge
Owners required a roof membrane to cover a series of high-profile buildings, which eliminated the need for costly and difficult removal of 100,000 square feet of existing roof assembly.
Solution
Installation of a full edge-to-edge Kemperol membrane over existing roofs provided a practical, cost-effective alternative for a long-term warranty.
