Kemper System membranes can be installed on any new roof with direct application to plywood, concrete and metal. Kemper System products consist of up to 80% renewable resources including recycled fibers, making them an ideal, environmentally-safe solution. In addition Kemper System ís odor- and solvent-free products eliminate environmental issues with building occupants.
Due to its tenacious bond strength and seamless performance properties, Kemper products are ideal for flashing any difficult architectural element or configuration. Kemper System membranes also are unaffected by ponding water and ice conditions, ideal for dead level decks. They can be used in conjunction with a wide range of built-up roof and insulation assemblies.
Benefits
• | Odor-free assembly for sensitive areas and occupied buildings |
• | Monolithic, seamless membrane that fully adheres to the surface |
• | Resistant to ponding water and ice |
• | Ideal for flashing any difficult architectural element or configuration |
• | Up to 80 % renewable resource content |
• | Single-source warranty on the full roof assembly |
Challenge
Replace the 30 yr. old, 80,000 sq.ft. main arena roof without interruption of the events schedule, which included the Republican National Convention. An additional requirement was to provide positive slope to eliminate an extensive ponding water condition that had become a significant structural loading issue for the cable-supported roof.
Solution
Remove all existing roofing, followed by the installation of an insulated Kemperol roofing system. Tapered insulation system incorporated four different tapers constructed into pie-shaped segments. Shop-fabricated insulation blocks exceeded 18” in insulation thickness. Kemperol membrane was provided with a gravel surfacing for aesthetics.
Challenge
Waterproof the 20,000 sq.ft. concrete roof deck of a new museum wing. Museum wing was designed with 1,250 metal-based circular skylights spaced 18 inches apart in order to achieve natural lighting throughout the gallery area.
Solution
Installation of Kemperol membrane with Kemperdur aggregate surfacing adhered directly to the concrete deck substrate, including self-terminating flashings at all skylights. Self-terminating feature of flashings eliminated the use of termination bars and field-welded counterflashing. When construction was complete, the High Museum launched Louvre Atlanta, an unprecedented partnership with the Louvre Museum in Paris.
Challenge
In 1993, the owner required a roof membrane to accommodate an exposed walking surface, standing water and ice, harsh chemicals due to cooling tower maintenance and difficult flashing conditions.
Solution
Covered entire roof surface with Kemperol BR membrane with sand for skid-free conditions.
